Ireland Imps ..A Training session not a game

Ireland Imp pairs 830pm every night ..24 boards but we can do 27 boards by request if the players will be willing to Zoom along. Swiss format.

The Ireland Imps Pairs is the best training session a pair can have for Teams. The boards are fairly exciting as I deal a few extra and throw out about 4 ordinary ones. You won't come away from an Ireland Imps pairs without some story.

Last night saw 2 Malahide pairs going head to head at the top for a while followed and overtaken by gilda/sibh from time to time. 

Results of July 22nd

We started with a robot pair in for the first 2 rounds and then we managed to flag down murphyslaw in the fast lane for boards 7-24. 

Board 7 a flattish 3NT NS

Board 8 Murphy got pushed to 3H and went 1 off

Board 9 Murphy was heading for slam and stopped off in 5H which was going down but murphy remembered if you followed quickly with a high card you might put off the defender and quick as a flash Murphy had the defender distracted and wrapped up 5H for 7 imps in the bag. Throne defended once. 

Boards 10 and 11 were not worthy

So onto Board 12 where murphy was possibly subsiding in 5D but for some reason the vulnerable new arrivals decided to sacrifice or try 5S. Murphy took out his sledgehammer driver and swung at that for lots of mullah. 

Meanwhile thegarve was having trouble controlling the rampant mare zaczaczac who was running all over the place after receiving an early piece of congratulations from thegarve. Little did thegarve know but zaczaczac turned off the chat for the rest of the session in case he took it back in spades. One night recently an opponent asked thegarve was he okay. "Well its just that you seem to be having a one way conversation with yourself and the table" 

Meanwhile Granda Tom decimated the high class field assembled by World reknowned TD Fearghal O'Boyle. Bring me your best said Granda Tom as he bashed an 83.5% session past them. Funny thing is it looks like Granda or Higheg are very popular in Sligo as almost every opponent wanted to offer them free stuff. 

Granda has been ripping up a furrow through Sligo and Friends for the last 2 months and no sign of any fightback. If the Sligo and friends need a good teacher I could rent them out thegarve. He would teach them how to defeat the all conquering granda. 

Granda's and Highegs worst score was 47% on one board ...the rest were all over average ... when for some reason he took a finesse that was pointless. The only blemish on a massive night .... one can only think that he miscounted his tricks as no decent player would ever take that finesse ..... unless I am missing something.
