Last night now knowing the Bridgebase rules we ran two fine competitions at the same time as published above for tonight.

On the had below we had the normally solid citizen crying into his beer as he first realized he had reached 5Ds doubled and vulnerable on a combined 5 count but managed despite his shock and excitement to make a doubled overtrick.
Of course his partner the legendary John Comyn has seen this type of thing before but it was a first for the normally solid citizen who does not have the experience of Comyn.
Comyn does not play vulnerability.
Meanwhile on the same hand the always distracted zaczaczac managed to find this hand
as a weak 2H opening .. A Joe McHale special we used to call it in the Regent as Joe rolled home 2D plus 4 back when Declan was a boy. The poor old Garve got hit for 500 and lost 8 imps despite the floundering Huey and Joe caressing their 35 high card points. Many went down in 6S EW so the Huey Joe 500 collection turned out to be a great score. Mind you if the zaczaczac was not playing with her toys she might have removed to 3D and got doubled there for a fine score, Normally once players deploy the penalty double on one contract they continue to double.
One also noted in Murphys continuing quest to take down kelan we note kelan posted about 20 imps past him in 2 boards last night. However Murphy dusted himself off and some hands later found himself collecting a pair of 800s from some other unsuspecting Donegal souls.
We also had the first known statement of appreciation of thegarve. An intermediate player sent a text after the first session.
We got very lucky tonight. Board 8 I got last spade because of opponent's discards. Board 5 I got a club trick I shouldn't have. Both of those probably cancelled a multitude of errors. And we got to play with thegarve. He's great. Obviously very good and good craic too
