April 6th Ireland Imp Pairs results

Ireland Imp Pairs..Putting it up at 1830 and sending it off as soon as its full ..Free Tourney. Will stick with Swiss and chase the thoughtful. Might get 3 in tonight.
Open to all Ireland flags..message eamongall if you cannot get in. However change to an Ireland South flag and its usually ok.

I think BBO selects the current group of Ireland flags and my followed list at creation of the event so I need to refresh if a person changes from say Northern Ireland to Ireland flag.
Declan Byrne informs me that the Ireland is not a flag but is related to ones IP address.
Some Sunday when there is no mass I might test that out.

If you want to play for first time .. best not arrive at 758pm .. look in earlier and try registering. Tourney is visible from about 615pm.

Be aware that in these days of BBO capacity issues ... (there were 33500 logged on at one stage last night and this is only those inside the front screen. Another 1000 or 2000 or so could be playing on the front page incognito. )  Before the pandemic somewhat below 20000 was peak.

BBO will issue you a warning after a few minutes of inactivity and then log you off if no action. This could happen if you play 2 fast boards and leave the room with 8 minutes of the round left. Sometimes people forget they are in a tournament and get distracted in the house and then they are subbed.
Its just BBO minding its resources not an insult or not me kicking you.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
On Wednesdays  Fearghal O'Boyle will run an intermediate event starting at 1930. So any intermediates who wish to play intermediate can look out for an event at 1930 directed by ansuid. Intermediates are welcome to play in 8pm Ireland imp pairs but now can choose the intermediate event on Wednesdays.

A link to Regent Bridge Clubs advice and BBO information  (I hope they won't mind)
Someone asked about BBO dollars and Prime.
BBO Dollars info
Prime is an upgraded BBO which includes free advanced robots if you are someone who uses robots. I personally used to rent basic robots for 3 dollars a month so Prime at 5 dollars a month is a good deal for me.

Session 1 ... After failing the first time ..many tournaments failed last night .. we got off the ground on effort 2. I heard several other Irish 730pm and 8pm failed to get going.

Two Irish juniors romp home ahead of establishment

Jack Charlton used to say "Put them under pressure"

Here is a hand where with the defence holding 3 cashable top tricks and a 4-1 trump break to boot
failed to apply any pressure at all. Yes the sheet would say 10 tricks always but the sheet always says what makes seeing all 4 hands. However on many hands the declarer will crumple somewhat when under pressure. The EW here seemed like they wanted to cheer on declarer. They set up his reserve suit of clubs .. they never attempted to cut down ruffs .. they never attacked his communications ...
....whereas Mesbur and Fitzgibbon would still be back on trick 3 grinding down declarer slowly but surely. One time at the Camrose Trophy they grinded on Johnny Phelan so much that Phelan got a time penalty. Having lost the match 20-0 ...he was handed a 0.5 imp time penalty so he started Round 2 on a minus score. I am not fully sure that is in the rules though. I think Fearghal was wrong.
Effectively Fearghal said to Phelan .. I know they made all 13 tricks but you revoked 3 times ..so its surely worth a half trick penalty on top.
Currently Phelan and his 5 mates hold the dubious record of being the only team to ever lose a match more than 20-0. Worse still Phelan found by the time he arrived at the bar it was closed. However Phelan always travels with a slab in the boot and a 3 boxes of large cigars.
