Friday May 29th Ireland Imps

Last night yet again we ran the Ireland Imps Pairs. We are struggling now against the massive amounts of CBAI virtual clubs. Paul Porteus has all the darlings running in the same direction.
However they play 1NT P P P hands but we play no hands with 1NT P P P. We play with a little bit of cerebral energy and sometimes the cards are all shook up. As we are playing imp pairs we are good training for the major Autumn team events that Diarmuid Reddan has planned at the online Limerick Bridge Congress.
We also have the very much in form Mr Paul Tranmer and Mrs Helen Tranmer who are massacring all who are unlucky enough to reach their table. Clearly this indicates a well studied bidding system and some good agreements and an excellent defensive signalling method. Apparently its an Acol base for the bidding and a HELO system for the defence. No wonder they get 35 kibitzers every night.

One Northern Ireland kibitzer indicated NIBU should automatically select them as a pair for all NIBU teams they are eligible for. With Rex Anderson and David Greenwood in tandem and Wayne on sideline if Mrs Tranmer gets tired the Camrose would be guaranteed. However one suspects the table pressure of professional bridge players like Forrester and Robson and the like might damage the psyche of the Tranmers and the years maybe catching up with Anderson Greenwood. Also the opposition in the Ireland Imp pairs is very ordinary so maybe we need to try out the Tranmers in a tougher environment before throwing them into the Camrose.

Ely carries Kay to victory

The Gordons Gin crowd were making loud noises about the results last night.
I just said well done and went on my way. They were claiming a victory on 52 imps but I trust BBO are better counters then Gordins Gin drinkers.
