Saturday night Lahinch and Skibbereen won Ireland imps closely from Sean Connor and James Doyle. Murphyslaw and his tob trundled in a somewhat furtherback 3rd.

Tonight amazingly saw 2 of the best players in Ireland run into a string of bad luck. Having a making 7S bid against them was quite costly but there was time to make a comeback. Board 15 should be every decent players slam but unfortuately for Michael and Karel they got the wrong side of it. However they should not be so severely punished for the weakness of the field in bidding.
As an aside Ben 2 and dandyman were first and visiting Danes 2nd place

Last night the battle in the Ireland Imp pairs went down to the final board as far as I could see. Winners thugs and minorprob made a doubled partscore against competitors zaczaczac and paradise c. Emer and Bill Hunter rose with a 12 imp haul on 23 24 to offset an 8 imp loss on 22. Martin Garvey gathered in some small plus imps after dropping back after a heavy loss on board 20 ....
The clown and the village idiot had a clash at the town green over tent pitching rights but maitennis shut them down quickly and maybe they discussed their differences privately or not.
This morning I run the Peter Pigot bridge club at 11am. Its lashing rain outside so if anyone wants a game we are open for business. The fair weather golfers might tog out.
Ireland Imp Pairs tonight at 830pm. Midweek we have 24 boards so all can go walking in the rain in the morning. Ireland Imp pairs is open to all. We charge 2BBO dollars and half goes to Bridgebase.
Last night we had Dave Terry and Pat Cassidy winning the event. I am not sure how that happened but maybe it was skill or good luck or the non-scowling Dave Terry ..
Last night saw zaczaczac and thegarve each swinging a bot for some reason
thegarve did manage to raise the bot in the air but there was plenty of mud on it
zaczaczac also passed the 50 imps in mark but she also shed plenty of imps out so her bat was also wet and muddy.
Saturday night saw the thoughtful tie wearing Joe Walsh slowly reach the podium. Joe makes other thoughtful merchants Dunne and Delaney look like hares but some days the tortoise out runs the hares. Bridge is meant to be a thoughtful game ...all those trick 1 fast merchants do learn.
Many years ago down in Mullingar I bid to 6NT or my partner put me in 6NT or something weird happened as we were missing AKQxxxxx ...8 spades .. and Joe duly led the spade Ace and all followed and Joe started to think and Jimmy/Charlie/Gerry started to worry ... and slowly it dawned on JCG that Joe had SA bare. Suddenly it dawned on me that maybe something good might be happening and I might not go 5 or 6 off. Eventually Joe places a red pipped card on the table and JGS burst a gasket..
The play continued and someone might have discarded badly and my 6NT made. I don't actually recall who was Joes partner and it might have been Joe who was leaders partner. However if one plays enough bridge even the impossible will happen some day. The more you play the more days like this there are.
Happily I have been the right side of most of these days
on Saturday night Ben 2 from somewhere in Midlands and Elizet from Israel placed first in the Ireland imp pairs. Ben 2 is a regular in the Holmes Wilson and plays on a team with kinggg2.
Tonight Friday we will continue with 28 board 7x4 Ireland imps. 830pm start .. same Saturday but we will revert to 6x4 on Sunday to Thursday nights as some people have work and golf to get up for in the mornings. Some even go fishing for Mr Cod.
So tonight was the Outlier .. Magic Murphy came off the bench at board 6 and roared into action.
Last night Noel Murphy was making loud noised and kept calling the tournament director on Sean Whelan. I have no idea why. It was almost like he wanted to force me to watch him . I would turn up as expected and be greeted by Silence ... I am not a mind reader.
Last night one of murphys calls was the above. First was 5 minutes of silence. Finally some mis spelt rubbish that looked like ALERT spelled mixed up and no lerta or some fast typing.
Now for some reason only known to himself Sean Whelan reckons this is a 3S bid .. but there is no agreement as Rose O'Brien would not expect to see this hand as she would hardly go 4S opposite what Sturdy had ... I think he is called Sturdy as he used to be seen holding up slanted goalposts in a previous career. He was clearly much better at the other career as waltzing his partner into 4S vulnerable is hardly a thing of beauty.
However Murphy calls the director ..having seen the dummy and wants to be allowed DOUBLE as there was NO ALERT and then he types

Murphy thinks Whelan should alert 3S .. as (I am an idiot I am bidding 3S with rubbish ..when my partner raises to 4S ..please Murphy double us )
Murphy does not understand ...he thinks there should be alerts for every stupid bid a player makes
Alerts are for something a player could not possibly be expected to know ... however
Everyone knows Sean Whelan bids the first card in the bidding box that attracts his attention .. he could be watching the Ballymun Lickams on the gogglebox ...it was on last night ..
Sean sees 3 spade cards and a void and figures ah sure I will bid 3S ...it will put murphy off more than Rose.

Last night Sunday we ran boards 1-12 from an over the shoulder with Andrew Robson
A nice score by Zrinka despite Pat McDaids apologies .. However a 39 imp start on boards 1-4 was instrumental to their success.
The mighty Sean Galligan and his robot rode the wave to victory last night Saturday helped at the end by loads of Murphyslaw robot generosity. However he had to play 24 boards before finding Murphys jam factory open for business

Meanwhile the winning of the event was in the hands of 2nd placers thegarve and zaczaczac on board 25 but something failed to happen

Last night saw the return of the all conquering Carolyn O'Donnell and she duely gathered in enough imps to raise the bat. However some severe resistance was met from Mollyhen and Allways3 but eventually Carolyn got away.
I also had a cut and paste error as somehow board 23 was same as board 1 and board 24 had same hands as board 2 but rotated or swopped around. You can check on the results website.
Averages applied for all ... Some folk said they did not notice and therefore wanted their scores left in.

Next thing I spotted a challenge on my screen from murphyslaw.Now it would not be good to lose to Murphyslaw as normally everything that can go wrong does go wrong for Murphy. Poor Murphy now believes this to be true.A long time ago I missed a lecture on electronics and there was Ohms Law and Kirchoffs Law and another surprising one called Murphys Law in the notes. Nowhere could I find in any book on electronics a mention of Murphys Law
