The Irish East West took down 3♥ to get the ball rolling
Unfortunately after a ♣ lead our North failed to find the tough ♥ switch.
So 4 imps gone ..Some things are beyond Thomas Hanlon. However although we see minus 4 imps
the reality is we could have been looking at plus 6 imps ...so its 10 imps ..but not even Al Hollander would have found a ♥ switch and he is a commentator.

We got 14 imps when Garvey Carroll stepped into a German auction and got doubled and got home.
Hanlon McGann making the normal 4H to add on to the +670.
Misfortune was around the corner though.

Hanlon McGann wheeled into 6NT and found there was no 12th trick in 6NT.
One cannot make use of a HEART ruffing value in 6NT.
Despite only 7 trumps ..one could make all the tricks in 7
♠
With the Germans lying low in 3NT making plus we lost 13 and had to scramble a few
late imps to get the draw. If our guys were up to the 4-3 fit even in small slam we could have got a large win to start out day. Making a 4-3 fit slam there was worth another 6 VPs.
Still 10-10 was not a loss and 4 VPS better than our average so far.
We have momentum.
